OUR PHILOSOPHY
Every Student Is Unique!  We will work with each student to help define and develop a plan to meet individual music aspirations.

It is very important for our music teachers to get to know each student on a personal level and understand their musical goals and needs.

At Studio Arts we balance musicianship and fun by making sure each lesson has a challenge with a new technique or concept.

Music is meant to be enjoyed.  Creating music should be stimulating and challenging.

At Studio Arts, we strive to make learning music fun!

OUR INSTRUCTORS
Every instructor at Studio Arts is extremely friendly, and has effective communication skills.  It is important that all our Music Teachers are fun & progressive.  Our instructors are highly proficient on their 'main' instrument, and most of our teachers play a variety of instruments. All our instructors have a strong background in Music Education, Child Education, and/or Professional Performance.

It is very important for our music teachers to get to know each student on a personal level and understand their musical goals and needs.

WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC DO OUR MUSIC INSTRUCTORS TEACH?   We teach a wide variety of genres:  Rock, Pop, Country, Jazz, Blues, Celtic and Classical.

At Studio Arts we balance musicianship and fun by making sure lessons include challenges with a new techniques, concepts and songs.

INDIVIDUAL MUSIC INSTRUCTION
St Thomas Studio Arts currently offers professional quality music lessons for the following instruments:

GUITAR - VOICE - KEYBOARD - PIANO - CLARINET - BASS - VIOLIN - CELLO - DRUMS - PERCUSSION - UKULELE - SAXOPHONE - FLUTE - ACCORDION

Individual Music Lessons are scheduled weekly for 30 minutes.

GUITAR LESSONS
Our guitar teachers teach rock, country, blues, metal and classical, acoustic and electric guitars.

Beginner students can expect to have fun working on beginner techniques & songs.

Our instructors will challenge students with new technical or theory concepts.  At the end of each lessons, students look forward to a favourite song or a favourite riff.

PIANO LESSONS
Our piano teachers teach classical and popular music.  Whether you would like to play Beethoven or Alicia Keys, we are here to help you.  Our piano & keyboard instructors will help you learn the fundaments of reading music, practice technique and understand theory.  Students do not have to have a piano at home to take music lessons.  A mid to full size electronic keyboard is all you need to get started.

VOICE LESSONS
If you have always wanted to learn how to sing, or to become a better singer, our voice teachers will help you to improve your breathing, increase your vocal range, enunciation, tone production and more.  As a student, you choose the genres and the music you would like to learn.

VIOLIN LESSONS
The violin is a beautiful and timeless instrument.  To learn bowing techniques and proper fingering, will allow every student the opportunity to make the violin 'sing'!  Our violin instructors are incredibly talented, and they have the gift of teaching with simplicity and fun.

DRUM LESSONS
At Studio Arts, we have four drum rooms and various styles of acoustic and electronic drums.  Our instructors teach various genres:  rock, metal, country, jazz & funk.  Our students are challenged with a wide variety of exercises to improve coordination, speed and comfort.  Owning a drum set is not necessary to begin drum lessons.  A beginning student can learn with a drum pad and sticks.

MORE INDIVIDUAL LESSONS INCLUDE...
Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet, Ukulele, and Accordion

COMBO LESSON
Studio Arts also offers to students the opportunity to learn on more than one instrument.  For example:  voice and piano,  or guitar and drums.  Many of our instructors are able to teach multiple instruments, and exposure to various instruments can help students to define their goals.

LITTLE ROCKERS (4 - 7 yrs)
Little Rockers is a small group program where children come into one of our big & bright rehearsal spaces where we have 2 sets of drums, 2 keyboards, small guitars, ukuleles, percussion and hand instruments, and microphones.  WE ROCK OUT!!!

Together we work on rhythms, tones, learning basics on all the instruments, and stage presence.  Our Little Rocker Bands are always a hit wherever they perform!  Kids are kids, and sometimes we never quite know what is going to happen on stage.  However, we do know What The Fox Says!

ROCK SCHOOL (7 yrs - adult)
GROUP MUSIC LESSONS
FOR KIDS AND ADULTS  (7 - 100 yrs)

WHO IS ROCK SCHOOL FOR?
1)  Beginning Students who would like exposure to all of the popular instruments before deciding what their favourite instrument is.  This is ideal for parents to have insight into their child's favourite instrument before investing hundreds of dollars on an instrument that will collect dust.

2) Intermediate and Advanced Students who are able to play their instrument, and are ready for the FUN of playing in a band setting.

3)  Adults wishing to laugh and have fun!  It makes for a great night out every week, and has the rewards of sounding great!

HOW DOES ROCK SCHOOL WORK
Students are placed in groups similar in age, ability, and genre preference. The instructors are able to teach all the popular instruments, and also be able to work with group dynamics to ensure everyone in the band is having fun!
FOR BEGINNERS
Each session, participants are able to rotate to the instruments they wish to be playing that day.  There is always a challenge of a new exercise or riff.  The focus of rock school is to have fun and develop a life long passion for music.   Once a student knows which instrument they wish to focus on, there is no substitute for the individual music lessons on guitar, piano, keyboard, drums, bass, violin, banjo or ukulele.

FOR ADVANCED PLAYERS
Generally, intermediate and advanced players know which instrument(s) they wish to be playing, and a band is formed!  There are many performance opportunities at our Open Stage events as well as out in our community.
